News in Brief

England

On the 17th of July 2010, we hosted a day of prayer for our parish under the theme "The Holy Spirit in Art and Music". Richard Conrad O.P. was the main speaker. Alison Fincham also gladly shared about her life as a Lay Dominican.  It was encouraging to see the enthusiasm of the participants.

Could this be the beginning of the Lay Dominican fraternity in Crawley? Kindly pray that it be so.

Germany

Five strong women celebrated their Golden Jubilee as Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart on the 29th May 2010. These are:

Srs. Flavia Buglmeier, Judith Johanning, Renata Maria Fliege, Speciosa Weber and Viola Singer.

Congratulations !

Colombia

At the end of the year evaluation 2009, the Sisters and their co-workers unanimously suggested to have an outing.  They found ways and means to arrange for one in May with a triple purpose: Integration, formation and relaxation. It certainly turned out to be just that.

Zambia

The HIV/AIDS Pandemic coupled with the unstable economy is having a devastating effect on the country and its people.

Life at St. Anthony Children's Village continues to be busy and challenging. Nearly every day new faces appear.

On the 2nd January 2010 a newborn baby boy was left at the Sisters' dinning room door.

Two days later another baby was found in somebody's garden.

At present there are 131 children in residence and 42 of them need special attention.

St. Anthony Children's Village has indeed become a true 'Beacon of Hope' for many children.

Kenya

Sister Luise Agonia Radlmeier was invited to Boulder Colorado (USA) by the Sudanese refugees who had passed through juja in Kenya. A get together was organised by Mickilina Kenya the founder of the CSAW (Community of Sudanese and American Women) and attended by about 100 boys and girls.

It is encouraging to see what they have made of their lives given the opportunity in a free world and their loyalty to family and friends as they continue to help those back home.

Please, pray for:

Srs. Angela Mulenga, Catherine Chirozvani, Kudzai Mutsure, Musara Chipenzi who made they Perpetual vows in August.

For the sick: Our  Sisters, families, friends and benefactors.

For those who have passed away lately.
